Obama – President Elect!

So Obama is the President Elect. There were no gibberish over him having the popular vote, lets be honest he had just about all the vote here. The numbers were clear, 349 Obama to 163 McCain.

The stories on CNN have had people say it was not about Race. Yet they are thrilled it is the first African American President. People have said that they feel they have a voice. There were a lot of other statements made that made me scratch my head in pure concern.

I would have thought they always had a voice, perhaps it is how we choose to speak and about what that defines whether people listen to us or not. Perhaps by exercising the right to vote and actually voting you can have your voice heard?

It has been stated that American has taken a giant step forward with this election. I would have to agree, I think it is a step forward. I believe a giant step forward would be the election of a Native American President.  If anyone had a raw deal it would also include them.

Obama did not mention MLK last night, this was discussed by CNN. He did in his acceptance speech state that there was work ahead, he stated it needed to be done now. One brick at a time. So lets see where he goes. He was not my choice, I have no vote, nor would I have voted for him. However he is the President and I can only hope he is the right one for this country.

An American Samhain

So yesterday was the first trick or treat for Boo. He was dressed as a Monkey. He is fascinated with Curious George and this costume had a banana in the pocket and was perfect for him. When we got to my office for him to trick or treat he was unsure and would only take on candy. He was very polite, however when he realized the point was as much candy he would take one from EVERYTHING! It was funny to watch and he came home with about 3 or 4 pounds of sweets.

G went as an executioner. A simple costume but he decided he could not stand the hood, so he looked like a defrocked choir boy with an axe. Braiden was a werewolf and when he wore the mask up on his head instead of over his face he had Einstein hair. Liam had a cool skull mask and went as Death. He was the embodiment of death for Terri Pratchett, I loved it. Izzy was a lady bug.

We did a trick or treat run at my office and I was a catholic priest with a skull in my arms, essentially old scoil and no one expected the Spanish inquisition! I had fun and my sexy wife was a devilish imp, or my housekeeper if you wanted to flip the priest gig modern day.

We did trick or treat to the doors here in the neighborhood, and one of the neighbors designs a haunted house each year. So we went through that as well. He must have thousands tied up in this thing and it was fun. He had a number of animatronic things which were hideous and quite rightly so.

So as a dad some of the costumes concerned me. For the age and the costumes some of the girls were so inappropriately dressed. Some where cheerleaders and little was left to determine what the pom poms were. There was a french maid and it was so not cool for a 15 – 16 year old girl. She was with an innocent milk maid, and her outfit was so also not right for her age. They looked like left over from a porn shoot! if you had taken a picture of them you could be arrested for child porn it was that bad.

When I was at home we had some trick or treaters and once again more girls dressed in a form where I could only cringe. One girl said she was a librarian, however I could see he lower bikini line of skin as she pranced around. So another one where you think thank god I am not her father!

All in all it was a good night and we had wayyyyyy too much sweets!
